Nestled on the north side of Lone Mountain in the Moonlight Basin area of the Big Sky Ski Resort in Montana, this vacation home for a Seattle-area couple features fantastic views of the surrounding Spanish Peaks. An entry “bridge” connects the main house with the ski-in-ski-out tower entrance via the sod roof of the garage. The main house features a large great room accentuated by open web timber and steel trusses supporting exposed timber rafter framing. Native materials of exposed heavy-timber framing, stone walls, and timber rainscreen are accentuated by the use of cement composite panels and board-formed concrete to create a heterogenous but complementary composition.
